I-9 Verification Requirements


Effective July 1, 2013: Employers with 25 or more employees are required to use E-Verify to check work authorization for all new hires. E-Verify is a web-based system, run by the United States government, that provides businesses with eligibility information on new employees at no cost. North Carolina now requires certain employers to use this program. If you have any questions in regards to employment verification and compliance, please contact us.

Delay on Employer Healthcare Penalty


The Affordable Care Act contains legislation that requires employers with over 50 employees to provide health insurance to employees that work more than 30 hours a week. The due date for this provision was originally in 2014, but has now been pushed back to 2015. The Department of the Treasury announced the delay in a blog post on July 2nd, 2013, which is linked below.


The IRS made the postponement of the legislation official on Tuesday, July 9th.
